More specifically, AirPlay 2 and Apple’s TV app are coming to a slew of TVs, sound bars and speakers made by third-party manufacturers this year. Here are all of the compatibility announcements made at CES 2020.

Apple TV App Upgrades

The Apple TV app is available on most Apple devices and select third-party platforms. But as of CES 2020, the list of non-Apple products that will support the app is growing.

Apple this week announced that the TV app will become available on select LG, Vizio and Sony smart TVs. For LG, the models include the 2020 TV lineup, as well as past 2018 and 2019 models.

Availability for Sony and Vizio devices hasn’t been set in stone yet.

The TV app is currently available on iOS, macOS, tvOS, PC, select Samsung smart TVs, and certain Roku and Fire TV streaming devices.

AirPlay 2 Upgrades

In addition to the TV app, there were also a slew of AirPlay 2-related announcements at this year’s CES trade show.

Many manufacturers are going to add AirPlay 2 support to upcoming or existing speakers and other audio-related devices. As of the writing of this article, the list includes:

  1. Klipsch Speakers
  2. Harman-Kardon Speakers
  3. Sony Smart TVs
  4. SimpleHuman Smart Mirror
  5. Braun Speakers
  6. JBL Soundbars
  7. Bose Speakers

AirPlay is Apple’s proprietary streaming system that allows users to cast audio or video from an Apple device to another platform. AirPlay 2 also specifically adds the ability to control playback via Siri and play audio in multiple rooms, as well as other under-the-hood changes.
