Google updates Calendar app with Assists, Gmail event sync

After Inbox, Google has set its sight on the Calendar app. Google has updated the Calendar app that promises to work with minimal user intervention. The app now listens to events from Gmail, which means if you have an upcoming flight or a dinner reservation, the app will scan your Gmail account and automatically add it to the calendar.

The updated app also comes with Assists that offers suggestions like titles, contacts or places and comes with Schedule View that offers a visually appealing view of the events.

Google says the app will work with devices Android 4.1+ and is available on devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop. They’re working on an iPhone update.
