CAMP HUMPHREYS — As the temperature rises, some Soldiers are hitting the new exercise equipment in Freedom Park.
In Headquarters and Headquarters Company, United States Army Garrison-Humphreys, 1st Sgt. Kevin Campbell leads his Soldiers through workouts there an average of twice per week, followed by a run.
According to Campbell, working out on the equipment will benefit Soldiers when they take the Physical Readiness Test, which the Army will implement in October.
“Since the PRT was announced, we’ve started training new muscle groups,” he said. “These stations are more consistent with the motions the Soldiers will use on the new PRT. It’s definitely a plus. We focus on stations that help prepare us.”
Campbell said the new test incorporates battlefield realties that include dragging, pulling, or carrying. And that’s what the equipment helps Soldiers get ready for.
The park if open for organized PT Mondays through Fridays from 6:30 to 8 a.m. For more information, call 754-6735.
“It’s a good set-up,” he said. “It’s a nice course to have.
