The biggest bane for Indian smartphone vendors like Micromax is the continuous software support. Google’s Android One seems to solve that issue and it seems Micromax is also working on a handset that will be powered by CyanogenMod. The report is obviously unconfirmed but a deal like this can attract some ire from Google since CyanogenMod is an alternative to Google’s Android OS.
For the uninitiated, CyanogenMod is a widely used aftermarket firmware that gives a new lease of life to handsets that manufacturers have officially dropped support of. Cyanogen Inc. has also has deals with Oppo and OnePlus to provide software for their handsets.
